Tie Clip Crafted from Ancient Kauri Wood - Carbon Dated to 50,000 years old

$35.00

Only 1 available

Simple but stately, this ancient wood is beautiful without being too distracting. It measures about 2" long by 0.3" wide.

Agathis, commonly known as kauri or dammar, is a relatively small genus of 21 species of evergreen tree. The genus is part of the ancient Araucariaceae family of conifers, a group once widespread during the Jurassic period. The Kauri forests originated in the northern island of New Zealand, and has been proven that they were around before the Ice Age. Theory has it that a giant Tsunami knocked them down and buried them in peat bogs where they were perfectly preserved. This piece has been carbon dated to be around 50,000 years old.
